Been a while now since I last used this site but I figured I’d try and hold myself more accountable this year in actually updating and blogging and writing about things outside of social media, so here we are!

There isn’t really a whole lot to talk about in general, I have been sucked into Monster Hunter Wilds as of late though this past week I haven’t really been playing it as much just due to the weather getting a bit nicer and doing responsible things. I also opened up my commission queue finally so once I get some of this life related stuff out of the way that’s my priority, the hunting can wait haha.

That aside though the game is pretty fun, I like it – it definitely feels like a true sequel to Monster Hunter World. I was never a huge Monster Hunter kind of guy outside of having one of the games on my 3DS, which I did enjoy but it didn’t grip me long term. Once World kind of opened up the formula though and reduced some of the things that didn’t gel with me the first go around I was hooked. I skipped Rise however it didn’t seem like the experience I was looking for, though I do hear it is good.

Wilds is just more of what I’d wanted to play! It has…some issues however. The technical problems on console and PC are well documented by this point and I hope that they are fixed up, but I don’t have a ton of confidence in that matter to be resolved quickly. I only say this because prior to Monster Hunter  World I did end up finally playing Dragons Dogma 2 on my Series X and while it has probably improved since launch, there were still times where the game would crash or chug. Very fun however, with some gripes of course, but the technical side of it kind of prepped me for what was possibly to come with Wilds.

Still – I have been chipping away at grinding out the materials to craft one of every armor set (in sets where there is an alpha or beta version I count any belonging to either one to be part of the same set in this instance) and each dual blade weapon as that’s what I mostly use. I am slowly getting there haha.

My hunter "Meow" and her palico "Baby Assistant" from a cutscene. Not pictured is the Seikret I named Bucket because...well KFC joke or something or other.

But enough about that…I have also been trying to be productive as well! I have been working on sprite assets and such for Volt that aren’t totally ready to be seen, as well as music I am holding close to the chest for now. I was taking a break from programming because finally the UI layers were imminent and that was what I was working on at the time, so I put a pin in that and decided to start working on visual and audio elements which has been refreshing.

The gamemaker UI layers are now currently in beta and I have been playing around with them (even submitted a bug that got fixed haha) and I think once I  learn the ins and outs of the system better it will work for what I need it to.

I also went out for a lovely date with my fiancée to a café near us where we drew and it was a wonderful experience that we plan on doing again soon.

All in all life is pretty good I’d say currently. Gotta get my sinuses fixed though, another long time health issue that I’ve left to kinda fester but as I get older and older its time to finally take care of these things. Better late than never and all that.

Anyway that’s it for now! I hope everyone is well!
